This book drew me in from the very beginning in this fast paced pirate story full of mostly female, kick butt characters who very individual and fun to read.
Alosa has all the pieces to the treasure now (after killing a TON of pirates) and now she and her dad can go and take the siren treasure together. That is until she learns more about her dad and her mom and things take a huge turn and she's not sure who to trust, including herself.
I love the way Alosa takes care of and cares for her crew. She's fiercely loyal to them as they are to her. They would follow her to the ends of the earth and to death if that's what she thought was the best for people.
I'm ready for the next book!

My favorite things:
The daughter of the pirate, Alosa. She's smart, funny, strong and determined to stand on her own.
The first mate: Riden. Adorable, witty, kind, conflicted and loyal.
The writing: wow.

I've been wanting to read this book since I first heard about it. Kick butt pirate king daughter who captains her own ship and is funny and clever and smart? YES! Let me read that book!
And I finally did. In one day.
The story jumps right in with Alosa being kidnapped (it's all part of the plan). She outsmarts most of the pirates who have captured her for ransom, except maybe the first mate, Riden. He's the brother of captain who kidnapped Alosa and the two brothers are totally opposite.

And the story doesn't slow down in this fast-paced adventure full of action, great characters, romance, smart and funny banter and lots of secrets.

I have to add my favorite quote:

He finally turns toward me at the contact. "How do you know so much? How are you...you?"

"I am me because I choose to be me. I am what I want. Some people say you have to find yourself. Not I. I believe we create ourselves to be what we want. Any aspect of ourselves that we don not like can be altered if we make an effort."
